Ted Williams (Sears Eska)7 hp and 7.5 hp from72-85 used the AV817 Tecumseh air cooled uniblock power head. They usually would run long enough to get me into the middle of the lake and then die.but they sure would run at home in the barrel! This forum seems to be mostly for the Mercury made Wizards, but the Eskas have a soft spot in my heart (as that is all I could afford when I was in my formative years). They made tons of them, under various names, mostly for Sears. When you do the carb, be sure to line up the slot in part# 6, (fuel pump element), at 2:00 and 8:00 positions.7hp, 1973, Made by Eska. The usual protocol is to get part numbers from the sears site, and either call CPC with numbers in hand, or order from boatsportandtackle. Do not yank that starter with the plug ungrounded, you can barbeque the stator doing that. The two best places to get parts are Certified Parts Corporation, and here īoth OEM suppliers, both reasonable for prices. The original carb to reed plate gasket is not the same as aftermarket, and that screws with the throttle/stator sync. When you go for parts, try to use OEM stuff, because the knock offs can screw you over. Hey Randy, sounds like you got it on the run now. His name was eskaman20008.ĭoes this seem like all i would need ? along with the plug of course. Well it showed life so im happy !!! I saw a guy on ebay selling a complete carb rebuild kit for $30 or with float $35 ( ). The impeller was working like it should spitting water like crazy. It ran strong while in drive so I'm hoping a carb rebuild & a new plug will do it to get her running smooth. then it quit after around a minute or so. I pulled and it started and ran but not smoothly. I then primed the fuel another 10 times or so and tried starting it in drive with the throttle all the way open. It started and ran very badly for 10 seconds or so then died.

primed the fuel another 10 times and pulled. I pulled again and it acted like it wanted to turn over and run but that was very short lived.

I primed the fuel again and keep squeezing the bulb about 20 times. I primed the fuel alittle more and pulled away. I tried pull starting while choked a few times then unchoked 5-7 times and it did not sound like it even wanted to turn over. Then I check for spark and it sparked great when the throttle was in start position. I went and got some fresh gas and mixed it up to 24:1. Last night I put her in a barrel and tried to get her started.
